Tips on Painting Painted Wood Floors

Painting wood floors is a popular interior decorating choice in both historic and contemporary homes. Painting floors can be a challenge if you do not have any prior experience with the task. Painting floors that have already been painted before requires an extra step, which you can ignore if you are painting never-before-painted hardwood floors.

Prepare the Floors
Prepare the floors before you apply the new paint to prepainted floors. The preparation includes sanding the floors to remove the existing paint on the floorboards. Prime the Floors
Wait until the floors have completely dried from the debris cleaning, as the floor should not be wet or damp. Apply a layer of primer on the floors to provide the floorboards with long-term durability. The primer layer should be thin, as thin coats are less likely to wear, compared with thick coats, due to the fact that thin coats dry harder.
